This season, Mumbai Indians seem to be on a
mission to lose all of their matches in the popular franchise league Indian Premier League
IPL. Can it be imagined that the team that has won the title five times in IPL has not won a
single match yet?
Although it is unbelievable, it is happening. Rohit Sharma's team still has zero wins after
playing six matches.
The Mumbai Indians played against the newcomer franchise Lucknow Super Giants on Saturday in
the hope of winning in their sixth match at the Brabourne Cricket Stadium. After winning the
toss, Mumbai captain Rohit Sharma invited Lokesh Rahul's team to bat. On this day, Lokesh
Rahul played the 100th match of his IPL career. Rahul took the form of a monster to play the
100th match, and he made the fifth century of his T20 career against Mumbai in stormy
batting. This was his second century against Mumbai. As well as being the second century of
this year's event, the first came from Jos Butler's Willow.
Lucknow Super Giants lost only four wickets in the memorable match and set a huge target of
199 runs for Mumbai Indians. Apart from Rahul, wicketkeeper-batsman Quinton de Kock played
24 off 13 balls innings. Chasing that run, Mumbai's innings stopped at 181 for 9. If the
stormy innings of 31 runs from 13 balls of Bravis were big, maybe Mumbai could have hoped
for victory. Mumbai had to be satisfied as none could gather a hopeful score except for
Suryakumar (36) and Kieron Pollard (25). However, in this 18-run victory, Lucknow Super
Giants have risen to the second position in the points list.
However, despite winning this memorable match, Lucknow Super Giants captain Lokesh Rahul had
to be punished for slow over-rate. According to IPL authorities, the Super Giants faced
punishment for slow over-rates against Mumbai Indians. As this is their first time, captain
Lokesh Rahul has been fined Tk 12 lakh.
